There is an ongoing debate if traditional books will be replaced by their digital versions. From my perspective, it is not possible that e-books will take over the book market. This essay will outline the reasons why I support this view.
E-books popularity increased in the era of smartphones. The main advantage of digital books is their compactness. It is especially important for the people who travel a lot or live in tiny apartments, where they cannot storage traditional books. What is more, it is possible to highlight textes and make notes on digital book without destroying them, in contrast to paper books. This can be convincing for student since they may find it useful in their learning process.
However, the aspect of attachment in case of traditional books is also very important. Some readers feel an emotional bond with the books they posses and collecting their own phisical bookshelf is not only a hobby, but also a lifestyle that helps them feel fulfilled and satisfied. Additionally, many readers need to feel pages of a reading book under their fingers, otherwise the process of reading is unpleasant for them.
This is why a significant number of people prefers paper books over digital ones. Despite the development of technology, traditional books still find their worshipers and definitely will not become ”vintage” yet.
