In the morden society, balancing between work and personal life has become challenging to some people, but there are others think it is still possible to maintain it, which I personally disagree with. In this essay, my opinion on this particular topic is present.
First of all, the society nowadays is more competitive compared to the past because some different industries thrive. For example, there were more people working in farming industry which is more relaxing and seasonal-driven, while technology-related industries are more popular these days which usually require companies to be able to produce high quality products in a short amount of time. The latter creates extremely fast-paced and competitive environment for workers, resulting in the impossibility of creating a decent quality lifestyle for themselves.
Moreover, aging population issue can contribute to the problem. With advancements of technology, people are benefitted by the better healthcare system, which leads to a larger number of elderly in the world. As a result, younger generations, who look after their parents, can receive nearly unbearable stress, increasing the difficulty to find the balance in their life. In Japan, for example, there are many family cases where children are unable to focus on their own life such as developing new hobbies or making new friends due to the lack of energy taken from looking after their aged parents.
In conclusion, I believe that being able to maintain a good work-life balance lifestyle is a luxury in today’s world. The reasons are because of the greater competitiveness in the society and the issue of aging population, causing a nearly impossible situation for people to have a good quality life.
