Nowadays, numerous individuals prefer not to be a typical employee but work for themselves. There are several causes of this issue, and there are also some disadvantages which are worth considering.
Various factors are responsible for the above situation. The main reason is that being self-employed offers them flexibility. They can plan their daily schedule as they wish, potentially increasing their productivity. In addition, they may have more personal time to spend with their families or on their interests. For instance, by being self-employed, parents can take a day off for a parent-teacher meeting. By contrast, this is not sometimes possible if they are normal employees. A further cause of this is that less money will be spent. This is because self employed workers usually do not have to travel to the workplaces. This reduces the amount they have to spend on transportation fees and the time they have to travel. Instead, they can use this money meaningfully. Lastly, the transportation fee is not little since there are at least 20 work days a month. Moreover, they have to travel twice a day.
However, there are various disadvantages to individuals working for their own profits. The most compelling reason for this is that they can not gain any benefits. This includes various insurances or chances to get more salaries through bonus and promotion. They have to pay for such insurances, which sometimes cause a large sum of money depending on the types. Another drawback is that they will sometimes feel isolated, especially those who live alone. Unlike working in the workplace, they usually do not have colleagues to hang out with or get help from. Thus, to ease such feelings, they go out with their friends. This can become extreme, sometimes causing them to abandon their work. To simply put, it can become a disturbance to their schedules, not progressing as they intended.
In conclusion, various factors such as flexibility and less wasted money contribute to people working self-employed. However, this can lead to feeling isolated and having to spend more money.
