Commuting from one place to other has become a hustle and bustle. Especially in metropolitan cities during peak hours’ transportation from one place to another is congested due to the increasing population. Some fellows debate that the predominant way to reduce the commuting time would be replacing the parks and garden near the city centre with commuter apartments while the other group do not agree to this statement. I would like to elucidate both my view points.
However, replacing the parks and gardens might sound as a good idea as they take up massive areas in terms of infrastructure. It decreases the commuting time as the transportation routes can be made shorter and more feasible. Working professionals and students get an edge as they need not travel to and fro for a long distance and timings would no longer be a hindrance. Apartments are convenient as they can reside in them and people can have access to the city centre.
When we look at the downside of this, replacing them would cause tremendous pollution in terms of soil, air, water as well as noise. Gardens and parks become less accessible as they are in the outskirts of the city and people need to travel a lot to spend their leisure time which makes them exhausting. An ideal example would be the botanical garden which was replaced for construction of a residential villa to a different place and it lost its charm as people didn’t visit it as often like people.
Thus, In my opinion instead of replacing the existing gardens and parks, the government can initiate the construction of flyovers , subways and underground metros to commute from one place to another as an alternative solution.
