It is widely believed that athletes should have strong physical health to succeed in sports, while others claim that it is more important for them to have good mental health. Personally, I believe that athletes should do both of them because each one is reasonable.
To begin with, sports players should have well-prepared mental strength because it helps them deal with pressure. Take the famous Vietnamese football player Cong Phuong as an example. In 2016, he was claimed to be the youngest and most potential player in the Vietnamese national football team, which, in turn, had some knock-on effects on him as he needed to cope with excessive pressure from the audiences and the media at that time. This, with a hectic schedule and unprepared mental health, created an enormous burden and prevented Cong Phuong from gaining more success in this sport.
In addition, athletes should also stay fit and have strong physical health because playing sports requires durability and a high stamina. For example, in some sports such as football, players are required to run on a large field in 90 minutes and they also need to attack and defend. Such activities are exhausting, so that football players should have good durability or they might not be able to play through the whole match. Besides that, a balanced diet also plays an essential role in the success of a player as our bodies need nutrients to maintain and work properly. Therefore, staying in shape unequivocally shows that the sport players have sufficient nutrients and a healthy body to play sports.
In conclusion, I believe both mental and physical health are crucial to athletes to become successful in their career, so they should pay attention to diets to stay strong and also ensure a healthy and good mental strength.
