Opinions towards free medicine in public hospitals are totally different. While some people believe that it is necessary for every citizen of the country to have access to free medical care, others assume that a qualitative treatment cannot be cheap and, in addition, the government should distribute the budget equally and spend more financial resources on other sectors. Although points of view towards this issue differ, I believe that every thought has a right to exist.
The main reason why some people are concerned about the issue of free healthcare is the cost of qualitative treatment. A lot of high-quality drugs, vaccines and medical equipment cost thousands of dollars. Therefore not everyone can afford such an incredibly big bill for hospital treatment, even though he is in need of this. For instance, chemo- and radio- therapy for cancer and tumor treatment uses a lot of expensive drugs and medical equipment, therefore people with low income need to choose between giving up on treatment or taking loans for large amounts of money.
However, other people would disagree with a concept of free healthcare, as from their point of view, government cannot provide free and high-quality healthcare for everyone because of its expensiveness. Moreover, they presume that the government should distribute and invest money in other important fields, such as education, military sector, civil development and others. For example, investing a lot of money in healthcare could lead to lack of finances in education, which could eventually lead to decreasing level of literacy, lack of specialists in many sectors, as well as lack of doctors in healthcare sector.
In conclusion, although it can be difficult for the government to find financial resources for free medical treatment for its citizens, it is crucial to provide basic and affordable medical care for everyone. In my opinion, the cost of medical treatment should depend on a person’s income, therefore people who cannot afford expensive medical treatment should get financial aid in order to provide access to high-quality medicine for every citizen of the country.
