Band 7+: Some people dislike changes in their society and in their own lives, and want things to stay the same. Why do some people want things to stay the same? Why should change be regarded as something positive?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It is said that some individuals do not like to witness any changes in their society and personal lives, and prefer that everything stay the same. In this essay, I will outline possible reasons for this viewpoint and explain why change should be considered a positive thing.

Some people do not want to experience any changes in their lives because it is difficult for them to learn new skills or subjects. These people have become familiar with a certain routine in their lives and are comfortable living with that. If a change occurs in their routine, they may have to learn new skills in order to adapt with the new situation. Take new smartphones as a prime example; a large number of older people are used to work with traditional phones, and if they want to switch to new smartphones, they have to learn new skills, such as how to work with touchscreens. This is burdensome for some people and is the main reason why they do not like to experience a change in their lives.

However, change should be considered a positive thing as it brings progress with itself. Without any changes, there will be no meaningful advancement in individuals’ lives, and they may stuck in the same position during their lives. For instance, switching to smartphones enables individuals to do more things, including stuying or working online, which help them significantly to become successful in the modern world.

In conclusion, I believe that some are unwilling to experience any changes in their lives as it is burdensome for them to learn new skills. Nevertheless, I maintain that change should be regarded as a favorable phenomenon since it enables people to experience progress in their personal lives.
