Graffiti is a form of art that has become popular in recent decades. Some individuals assert that there should be some places where graffiti is allowed, while others are against this view, saying that this action should be banned. While I agree with the former view, I do understand why some people may be bothered by it.
As of late, drawing graffiti in the streets could sometimes be considered as a misdemeanor. On the one hand, holding this view is sensible. Since juvenile delinquency is a major problem worldwide, an action of trespassing could be noticed. Leaving graffiti on someone else’s private property is a major concern, and due to the majority of these law-breakers being kids, taking action is near irrational. In addition, graffiti artists sometimes create a work that is inappropriate, which might result in severe backlash. These are the reasons why graffiti is not welcomed by certain part of society.
On the other hand, graffiti is a type of art, which may be a way for people to express themselves, and banning this opportunity may seem unfair. That is why some cities have areas for graffiti artists. Also, it must be noticed that some of these works are quite impressive, meaning that they might not only decorate the area, but also make it seem more full of life, since several people contributed to the work. From this perspective, the idea of allowing graffiti seems reasonable.
In conclusion, I believe that more cities should allow people to make graffiti in certain territories, as soon as it doesn’t resolve in trespassing or creating inappropriate work. Put simply, there is a need for proper legislation.
