Many people believe that high taxes standardized by the governments are not wise and burden them in order to have a good life. While others think that this is a great strategy to pay for crucial public services, such as infrastructures and educations. This essay will discuss both of the view points and argue in favour of the latter.
On the one hand, tax is a sensitive issue among labours in Indonesia, particularly because of the regulations that are constantly changing and tend to discriminate low income people. The tax regulations in Indonesia are not align with the wages received by the employee that usually under the average salary standard in each cities. This make their household economic even worst, as they need to pay for their expenses that gradually getting higher because of the inflation and pay a big amount of tax to the government. Moreover, society have to face the irony that their money being corrupted by some irresponsible people.
On the other hand, tax is one of the biggest income for a country. Countries usually take an enormous proportion of people’s salaries to be dedicated in the development of other sectors. This also applies to Indonesia, as nowadays there are a significant improvement of infrastructure, such as bridges and roads in rural area. Even more, the number of scholarship recipients given my the government is getting bigger. These areas are essential to support the nation economy and human resource.
In my opinion, the government need to be very meticulous in arranging their tax procedure, so that every part the country can be run smoothly and effectively in order to bring prosperity for all. In summary, taxes are necessary for a country economic; however, it must be allocated wisely and responsibly, so that the society can feel the benefit.
