Global warming has been a primary topic of conversation for many years. One of the key reasons leading to global warming is the excessive use of plastic packaging for goods. Some argue that manufacturers and supermarkets bear the responsibility of reducing the amount of packaging for goods, while others believe that customers should avoid products with excessive packaging.
From the perspective of manufacturers and supermarkets, I believe that they should indeed reduce the amount of packaging for goods. However, it is crucial to consider the principles of demand and supply. Supermarkets aim to lower their expenses, and one way to achieve this is by reducing packaging costs. For instance, the industrial packaging process is a cost-effective method for producing goods compared to other more expensive methods. Therefore, in my opinion, manufacturers and supermarkets should reduce packaging without significantly affecting the demand and supply dynamics.
Looking at the issue from the customers’ point of view, there are several reasons why customers feel that minimizing packaging for goods is essential. One reason is the impact of global warming and the challenges of recycling. The materials used in packaging and the packaging process itself can have a significant environmental impact. For example, when discarded packaging ends up in water bodies, aquatic animals ingest it, leading to harmful consequences such as animal extinction.
In conclusion, although both perspectives have their merits, I believe that it is essential for manufacturers and supermarkets to adhere to waste management principles and regulations. Additionally, customers should make conscious choices by avoiding purchasing goods with excessive packaging.
