There is a hot debate of whether reducing the massive amount of the product packaging should go along with the responsibility of the producers and retail shops or customers. Personally, I partly agree with both opinions as this essay will discuss several reasons.
Examining one facet, I believe that companies do have a significant responsibility about their packaging. One reason for that is relieving the environmental concerns of global citizens. Part of consumers do not have enough awareness or just a little about the potential downsides that the amount of packaging of goods having on the environment. Therefore, companies need to minimize the quantity of non-renewable packaging such as plastics while maximizing the environmentally friendly materials. For example, H&M, a renowned brand about fashion, recently changing their bags that store clothes to a sustainable material, paper.
On the other hand, individuals are also responsible for this issue. By boycotting huge brands in the world that remain using non-renewable packages, customers can put a pressure on them to change their awareness. As a result, huge companies will follow trends and modeling oriented-behavior for many others. According to Dentsu International, 77% consumers said that they only want to spend money on brands that practice green and sustainable strategies.
Environment plays a pivotal role in our daily lives; thus, decreasing the massive amount of packaging is an issue that needs collective efforts of both sides. Solving this problem not only helps nature but also enhances people’ attitude towards surroundings.
