People hold opposing views as to whether spending money on space exploration is worthy or it should not be imperative. While pouring capital into space researches may seem irrelevant to critics as there are more crucial issues of humanity to tackle, I believe these scientific activities may result in great discoveries that is worth to achieve.

On the one hand, critics of space exploration contend that we need to funnel taxpayers’ money into down-to-earth projects, as they are more important. Nowadays, humanity face with repertoire of problems, ranging from climate change to food scarcity. Tackling these issues is crucial, because if we ignore their existence, human species might become extinct. That is why opponents believe we need to invest majority of our resources into these urgent problems. Additionally, there is no guarantee of any great discovery after squandering substantial amount of money for activities related to space science. The Universe is still a big unknown subject for humanity, and there is a possibility of not finding any useful information after countless manned missions or creation of advanced space probes.

On the other hand, I would side with those who argue that there might be great returns in terms of innovations. The money invested into this field of science, may be gained back if we achieve establishment of space-tourism business or resource mining. A vivid example of this might be discovery of diamond or gold resources in another planet. Another justification of space exploration is that it might solve the detrimental issues of humanity. The number of people living on the Earth is increasing day by day, and we may simply not be able to fit into one planet. The Earth is suffering from climate change as well, which might not be reversed fully. That is why we may be forced to become multiplanet civilization. If we find any planet that is suitable to become a human habitat, this goal might be achieved.

In conclusion, although those who oppose space exploration claim that we need to focus on more urgent and important problems, it is better to invest in this field for having greater outcomes and solving overpopulation issue.
