Band 7+: Some people feel that there is too much emphasis on getting an education, and that governments should spend money on leisure time activities for young people too. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Majority of people believe that governments emphasise excessively on education, instead they should allocate more money on quality time activities for the young population. In my opinion, they should be a balanced approach by governments on both promoting education and providing activities for new generations. This essay will discuss the importance of education for authorities, before explaining the reason for balanced approach.

First and foremost, education is an important topic when it comes to the development of country and its citizens. To illustrate, in order to gain a higher share of global market, the government needs a certain amount of qualified workforce. The more well-educated the population is, the higher is the level of human capital in the state. Furthermore, if education rate among the citizens is higher, there is more opportunity for economical improvements. Therefore, governments promote obtaining a good level of education.

Although education has always been a priority for authorities, it is also crucial to provide spaces for young generations to spend their leisure time in.

These spaces might include public places for extracurricular activities, including sport events, art or music festivals. To elaborate, by taking part in extracurricular activities juveniles develop a wider worldview and gain skills to adapt to various situations. In contrast, a population only focused on getting scientific knowledge might seem like robots, as they would not have any interests or crucial skills, such as communication and empathy.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that authorities should maintain a balanced approach in allocating budget toward not only the education system, but also for providing extracurricular activities for young generations.
