The government allocates money to different aspects of society to benefit citizens. It is believed by some that by receiving subsidies on healthcare can the public be advantaged to most. I, together with other people, support the viewpoint that government spending on education is equally significant.
Without a doubt sponsoring healthcare should take up a large proportion of taxpayer’s money since it enables people to enjoy the basic rights of seeking medication once they become sick. Never should we underestimate the essentiality of providing opportunities for the grand public to meet the doctor for free or at a cheap price. With sufficient subsidies on local health systems and medical research centres, not only can individuals, no matter rich or poor, suffer less from harmful diseases, but also means medicines may be innovated and produced for cheaper prices. Normal citizens who benefit from a healthier body, as a result, tend to be more emotionally positive and work for a longer period, allowing the whole society to be more harmonic and productive.
However, though money on healthcare indeed serves as one of the most important government subsidies, I don’t agree that education is not as important, if not more important to a country’s future development. A country’s next generation is the future of that nation and education is the key to conveying correct core values and essential knowledge to these children. By donating money to school infrastructure constructions or providing free education to children in rural areas by paying teachers’ wages, the government allows more students to enjoy education. Students in poor provinces like Guizhou, for instance, have the opportunities to study laws or natural science in top universities in China, therefore can use the knowledge to construct their hometowns in the future.
In conclusion, it is clear that healthcare is important for not only individuals but also society and therefore should receive a high level of sponsors from the government. However, education should be considered an equally serious topic and be given a high priority.
