While there are also people who say library is important for public. In my opinion, I would say both arguments are understandable.
In this modern time, many resources are available for us to get information and books through our devices. News are exposed everywhere in social media. When we open our mobile phone, news would just appear, that engage us to read. From what I have noticed, many reading communities also switched to online reading, since it is more convenient and some do not need us to pay, unlike public. libraries. Books from libraries are accesible on websites or applications, although maybe not all.
However, social media can get fake. There is already so much case where people got false information and it gives misunderstanding. On the other hand, information from libraries are factual. Many books provide information that have been verified by experts. Moreover libraries also can give a peaceful and calming environment for people who need a place for relaxing while reading what they love. Though, libraries rely on papers, hence, there is a point in people saying it is a waste of resources.
In conclusion both views have positive and negative impact. Technology can be helpful and more suitbale for some people who want to read. Yet libraries are still a preferred choice for some people.
