It is argued by some people that one of the waste of resources problem is scientific research. From my standpoint, some studies are really time-wasting but not all.
Nowadays, there is a significant increase of different explorations. However, they are separated into two sections; useful and not necessary. For example, billions of dollars every year spends to finding planets which has life. While these projects are ambitious, they often seem inefficient when compared to global crises. Instead funding a lot of money to lead a Mars, government can reduce the poverty in cities and resolve ongoing military conflicts by redirected resources. Consequently, many argue that emphasizing scientific studies over human problems considered as a money splashing.
On the other hand, scientific research plays a major role in the evolution of modern society. What most individuals considered useless may be sustainable in the future. For example, to illustrate the atom, which scientists tried to study for over 100 years across the entire nation and ultimately invented the internet from it. Now, we cannot imagine our life without the internet and all its technology. We also should not forget about research into nature; this knowledge is crucial for minimizing the risks of tsunami and volcanic activity.
To sum up, funding a lot of money into unnecessary exploring may be a not that benefic point, because of major problems which should be immediately solved. Also, I think some studies can be useful in future.
