People vary in their attitudes or reactions toward advertisements. Some individuals are affected significantly and completely, while others are free to be attracted and then purchase commodities impulsively. I reckon that customers’ purchasing behaviors can be impacted by advertising in some instances, but it doesn’t work all the time.
On the one hand, the kind of younger generations easily accept the guidance of celebrities, compared with elderly people and middle-aged adults. For example, it became a trend among youths and adolescents when a superstar wore the latest sort of footwear, with an air pad on the sole or insole. Additionally, personality should be considered as a reason that can explain why they would like to buy the goods advised by some
On the other hand, adults, especially those in their thirties and above or so, hardly follow the tendency led by models in advertisements. They obey their judgment on purchasing by their knowledge of commodities. Meanwhile, the kind of personality naturally that customers will create opposite effects when facing and suffering the sales strategy. For instance, no opportunity to impact those mature customers by changing their preferences about food consumption which has been established for a long time. It is impossible to attract the Coca-Cola drinker to taste another soft drink.
In conclusion, advertising has a noticeable function in increasing sales depending on specific age groups and personalities. By contrast, some sorts of customers are against persuading and encouraging them to buy some products that are commented on in advertisements.
