Education plays a vital role in the professional and personal development of an individual. Many educational institutions, ranging from primary school to higher education, are keen to provide theoretical knowledge over teaching practical skills. I completely agree that learning theoretical aspects is alone not sufficient because in real-world life, practical skills benefit students more than memorizing factual knowledge. These students become more competitive in practical, professional, and personal life.
One important reason for agreeing with learning skills is that some fields require solid practical skills more than focussing on factual knowledge, like business. Students of business need more practical learning such as internships, seminars, workshops, and vocational training. To become the best entrepreneur, it is significant that a student ought to have good abilities such as decision-making, budget planning, and time management, which are possible with practical work at business sites. Moreover, in the field of surgery, no doubt theoretical knowledge is essential, but practical learning is more necessary to become a perfect surgeon. If students lack practical skills or have poor skills, then society would suffer.
Another key reason why I agree that learning skills with facts and figures is of great importance in personal life is to become an independent individual. For example, in the most advanced nations like Canada, China, and Japan, they are equipping Montessori students with basic life skills, such as focussing on teaching students daily life house chores. Students are trained in cooking, washing, and cleaning. Such students are independent; they do not become a burden on their family.
In conclusion, I agree that it is beneficial for the students to have a balanced education of both skills and factual memorization for professional and personal development. Every educational organization should have balanced policies for both theory and practical learning.
