The influence of time on aging has a varied impact; on the one hand, some think that aging is entirely negative because of health problems, but on the other hand, I believe that it is considerably better than before with more social welfare and medical advancements. It is evident that the elderly now can enjoy every aspect of life.
Upon closer inspection, some say that aging was better in the past than it is now. Globally, there has been an increase in the construction of factories, leading to negative climate changes and excessive pollution. These climate changes and pollution have generated new health issues, such as arthritis, and worsened existing health problems like high blood pressure, which were uncommon in the past. For instance, studies show that 12 new types of illnesses were discovered in the last century.
On the other hand, I firmly believe that aging has made remarkable progress compared to previous times. In the past, elderly people relied more on their family or charity, but nowadays, older people receive pensions and medical support from the government. While pension schemes improve their financial status and reduce poverty, medical support helps them maintain a healthy life. For example, developed nations, including the USA and the UK, established 119 free clinics and pension facilities for the elderly over the last decade.
Moreover, advanced medical opportunities, including new medical tools, have created a better life for the elderly. New medical equipment allows for more effective treatment, cures for incurable diseases, and surgical operations with less harm. Examples include the Da Vinci Surgical System—a robotic system for minimally invasive surgeries—and the Portable MRI Scanner, which can be used in smaller or more accessible spaces. The Artificial Pancreas System automatically regulates insulin levels for diabetes patients, CRISPR Gene-Editing Technology treats diseases by editing genes, and Wearable ECG Monitors track heart activity.
To sum up, there has been ongoing debate about aging for many years. While some people say that aging is more negative than it was in the past due to health issues, others think it is much better. I firmly agree with the latter view, as governments provide certain advantages for elderly people, and modern health technologies are continuously advancing.
