There is a controversy over how aging is viewed nowadays. While some say that getting old is a complete disadvantage, others argue that there are better opportunities for elderly people than ever before. I strongly support the latter statement. It is understandable why many people are scared of getting old. One fact is that they might not be able to work as efficiently or secure themselves as they did when they were young. It is obvious that in many countries, monthly payments for retirees are not high enough to fully satisfy their needs. This creates an additional fear of being left without finances or the chance to live a fulfilling life later on. Moreover, as people get older, they start to experience health problems such as poor vision, bad hearing, or restricted movement. These restrictions make them feel bad or unhappy with their state, leading to emotional frustration.
However, thanks to advances in technology and healthcare, elderly people can now live fulfilling lives just like anyone else. For example, special equipment designed for the deaf or blind can remove restrictions placed on the elderly, allowing them to live without suffering from such health issues. Regarding the movement of individuals, there are already automated wheelchairs which can take them to their destinations with just a click. In terms of financial strain, many countries already provide financial support and assistance for those who struggle with a lack of funding. Additionally, there are a lot of established retirement homes to take good care of the elderly generation.
In conclusion, people are concerned about struggling in their old age as they will not be in their best shape to get work done, pay bills, and take care of their well-being; nevertheless, these concerns are not the main problem thanks to developments in technology. If it weren’t for these advances, elderly people would not be living as comfortably as they do now.
