Band 5+: Some people say that it is better for the government to do more crime prevention measures, while others believe that the government should focus on having stricter law enforcement. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Nowadays, people are arguing on how government should act upon crimes. Some of them believe that it is better to prevent a crime before it happens to refrain people in doing bad things. While others prefer stricten the law to give harsher punishment for the criminals.There are several arguments why these two groups of people have contrasting ideas.

Firstly, it is generally believed that a crime happen because of supporting environment and not because a person want to do one. Government usually makes campaign to educate people with a good intention to prevent them from doing a crime. There is also civic education lesson that people will experience when they go to school. These measurement that the government took as a solution to hurdle people for not making a crime will be beneficial for the society in the future. It will remind people that they have to act according to certain values and righteousness that they get from the education.

Secondly, other people believe that tighter law enforcement and harsher punishment that a country can establish will be contribute better in order to solve crime problems. Criminal might be set to be an example for others on what the result of punishment that they will get if they are commit a crime. Consequently, this will bring harmony for the society thanks to the awareness that has been generally accepted by other people when they see a punishment is enforced according to the law.

However, I personally believe that the argument for tighten the law is not as ideal as the prevention one. This is because it require a people to become a criminal first before they can be set as an example for others. In other words, we are trying to produce criminals to show others the bad outcome after doing a crime.

To sum up, a measurement to prevent crimes are possible for some people because it can prevent a person to be a criminal. While the argument of tighten a law is believed to refrain other people to do crimes because of the result that they will get. I personally believe that the government’s measurement in preventing a crime to happen is better rather then tighten law enforcement.
