The legal system is the foundation of a society and is used to reprimand those who breaks the norm. Some people think a single universal legal system could be beneficial. However, some people think that it could cause more problems that it solves.
On one hand, a single universal legal system could be beneficial as it could unite the world by making every country into an agreement as to what is acceptable and what isn’t. It could also increase the protection of human right’s. In other word, if the world is in agreement of the law, no country could make a loophole to prejudice a certain group of people. For example, the ban of hijabs in France.
In contrast, a unified judicial system could cause a lot of problems. Every country is special. Each country has it’s own culture and history. This means an action in one country could be accpetable but considered taboo in another. As every country has its own basis of making the law that comes from each country history, people, and culture. For example, every law in Indonesia should abide by Pancasila. It would be ignorant to those culture and history by making a single unified legal system.
In conclusion, making one united judicial system has its benefits but it would cause more problems than it solves. In my opinion, every country should be free to make its own laws as every country is special and we can’t generalize it.
