There has been a discussion among different groups of people about whether they should work with large firms or get employed with small companies. I lean towards the decision of working with the big companies because comparatively there are more pros, such as job security in the large company, higher salaries, additional benefits, and last but not least, networking.
In this 21st century, the first thing an employee working in any industry seeks and expects is a long and progressive career for himself so he can provide for his family and society. Therefore, records show that MNCs and big businesses provide comparatively far better options in the market in terms of job security and competitive salaries than small businesses. It is believed that a worker working in a small business is more vulnerable to being fired during a loss or at any point in time without getting compensated well. For instance, it has been recorded that during COVID, thousands of businesses got shut down due to losses and thousands lost their jobs without any notice period. On the other hand, big factories had many to survive during bad phases and paid their employees.
On top of that, massive entities offer a variety of perks for their team. Including all types of aid which an employee expects, like health insurance for their family, on-site lunch, stocks, transportation, rent, home loans, and many more. However, for some people, these things are secondary reasons to work in a big environment. The primary reason includes employees getting connected with clients or teams from different backgrounds, giving them a chance to learn more from each other and be a better individual. Networking is not just meeting people sometimes; if different people meet with exact ambitions, they can change the world, like the founders of Microsoft used to work for the same software company and later they changed the world.
To conclude, people should primarily opt to work in a large environment for better growth, pros, and ambitions, especially young ones. On the other hand, startups and small businesses should focus on providing more to employees and society.
