In recent years, there has been growing concern about endangered animal species and there is an ongoing debate about whether people should only protect animals that are useful to people. However, I completely disagree with the idea that only animals that benefit humans should be protected.
The first significant reason for protecting all animal species is that they maintain ecological balance and play a vital role in ecosystems. For instance, bees pollinate plants, while predators control the populations of other animals. Losing certain species can disrupt the food chain and damage entire ecosystems. Moreover, even animals that seem to have no direct benefit to humans play a vital role in maintaining ecological balance.
Second crucial reason for protecting animal species is that they deserve protection even when humans receive no direct benefit from them. Therefore people should abandon a human-centred perspective because even if a rare animal does not provide food, medicine or other direct benefits, it still deserves to be protected and to live in its natural habitat. I believe that every species has its own intrinsic value and should be protected regardless of its usefulness to humans. Furthermore, individuals should pay greater attention to endangered species and create ideas to prevent extinction. Moreover, governments should include information about protecting and valuing animals in school textbooks.
In conclusion, people should protect all animal species regardless of its benefits to humans. Although individuals do not receive direct benefit from some animal species, they should protect and show compassion towards animals.
