Some individuals argue that students with the best grade in their exams should be rewarded, while others believe that those who show the biggest progress should be rewarded instead. In my opinion, I strongly support the view that progress are way more important to reward, because this means that those students made considerable amount of effort to achive better result and in the future gives better motivation.
On the one hand, appreciation of student’s progress is extremely crucial, since it shows that this person contribute significant time and effort to increase their level of knowledge. Moreover, I believe that this focus also important for further motivation of students to keep working hard, even if they are not yet at the top of the class. For example, a student who initially struggles in a subject like physics but gradually improves over time deserves recognition for their hard work, which can than motivate them to keep improving them selves in the next period.
However, on the other hand, emphasising the importance of the highest scores in student’s exams gives more value to students who have already demonstrated exceptional ability and consistent performance. Rewarding top students may help set a clear standard and inspire others to aim for the highest possible results. For instance, a student who consistently achieves perfect scores may inspire peers to put in more effort, knowing that exceptional performance will be recognised and rewarded.
In conclusion, while there are valid arguments on both sides, I personally believe that student effort and progress are more valuable than just predictable the highest score, since it represent evolution of personality and these recognition would give even more motivation for the future assignments or exams.
