There are divided opinions regarding the most important means to enhance health. Some individuals claim this can be achieved by adding sports facilities, whereas others believe there are other essential ways to go about this. However, in my opinion, I think there are other vital measures required to improve public health.
On the one hand, a sedentary lifestyle is a major risk factor for most non-communicable diseases including: hypertension and diabetes. That is to say that if numerous sports centers exist in a country, many people will be encouraged to exercise, hence, reducing the chances of contracting diseases. Moreover, these facilities do not only enhance our physical look, but, they also serve as recreational and entertainment centers where people are relieved of stress, hence boasting their mental health.
On the other hand, physical activity is not sufficient to restore and sustain good health. There are however other important factors such as healthcare facilities and diet. This can be illustrated by looking at European countries where access to advanced health services has saved many lives and prevented countless disabilities through early diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Furthermore, the consumption of a balanced diet by the general public will boast individuals immune systems thereby eradicating conditions including malnutrition which is common in children. It is thus crucial to inculcate these parameters in health sectors in order to have a great impact on community health.
To sum up, although numerous sports institutions play a major rule in a country’s health sector, I strongly believe that state-of-the-art health infrastructures and the consumption of healthy food are paramount to fostering health.
