There are competing views on whether to bring up children with full of competition or to teach them being cooperative. I strongly believe that families should teach children to work with another person or in a team because of the some benefits that they could gain in long run, such as improving a sense of empathy and being good at teamworks.
On the one hand, there are two reasons explaining why some prefer the sense of competition. Firstly, compeition can foster resilience and self motivation, helping children to push their limits and achieve their personal success which leads to a self-confidence. Secondly, being in a competition with other peers might result in a drive for improvement as a competing class enviroment might be the best place to imporvement. However, I do not think bringing children up with the sense of competition will be useful in long run as it may leads to jealousy among students and might harm their relationships.
On the other hand, teaching cooperation might be beneficial, especially considering the effects which may occur in long run. Encouraging students to become more cooperative promotes the sense of empathy, teamwork, and communication skills, which are essential for building relationships and functioning effectively in society in long-term. If we are examined the recent study conducted by a private survey company, it can be seen that being in a cooperative learning environment could enhance learning pace at about 17% and decreases the stress level of the students by 32 per cent. I agree with this argument because if a person has a cooperative personality, they will gain a lot of benefits from it in the future, sooner or later.
All in all, although having a competitors sense might provide some merits, its downsides cannot owerweigh being a cooperative personality. Therefore, it seems to be, raising children in a cooperative way is the best way when thinking long term.
