Band 7+: Some people say that too much attention and too many resources are given to the protection of wild animals and birds. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion ?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In the rapidly changing world, humans are witnessing a significant decline in ecological balance, leading to the extinction of wildlife animals. There is a growing belief among certain individuals that excessive attention and resources are being allocated to the protection of wild animals and birds. I strongly disagree with this viewpoint as I believe that an overemphasis on wildlife conservation could impede economic development.

First and foremost, biodiversity plays a crucial role in the ecosystem by offering a wide range of benefits to humanity. By directing substantial attention and resources towards the conservation of animals and birds, we can effectively maintain the natural balance. These efforts are instrumental in purifying the air and sustaining the food chain.

For example, bees play a vital role in pollination, contributing to the continuous addition of CO2 and O2 to the environment, which supports various forms of life. Various environmental organizations, such as the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), have been established to raise funds for the protection of wildlife. Volunteers associated with WWF, for instance, make notable contributions to safeguarding wildlife species, thereby raising awareness among the public about the importance of preserving animal lives.

However, excessive focus on the protection of wild animals and birds can have adverse implications for economic growth. It is essential to acknowledge that allocating resources solely to wildlife conservation may divert attention from other critical sectors such as agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and tourism. Therefore, striking a balance between wildlife preservation and addressing societal needs is imperative.

In conclusion, while it is undeniable that directing attention and resources towards safeguarding wildlife animals and birds contributes to ecological balance and benefits the overall ecosystem, excessive investments in conservation efforts may compromise the quality of human lives. Therefore, a balanced approach that considers both ecological preservation and economic requirements is essential to ensure sustainable development.
