In recent years, the young have been more addicted to watching TV, causing people to consider the influence of this on their behavior. While some people think that how much time children spend watching TV plays an important role in forming children’s character, I agree with those who believe what children consume from it influences their behavior most.
There are various reasons why it could be argued that time devoted to watching has much influence over a child’s behavior. If a child spends most of their time staring at a screen box and watching some certain type of content, they will be more likely to be influenced by this than other children who barely watch TV. For example, the survey conducted by the Japanese government showed that children who spend most of their time watching cartoons have more unrealistic thoughts than those who spend limited time on TV.
However, I agree with those who think that content being taken by children influences their character most. I believe that the environment that a person is in plays a crucial role in determining their character especially when they are young as they are more likely to be affected by outside sources. When they are observing the scene on TV, that will be their somewhat environment and start to change their behavior for the worse or better according to the type of content being watched. That is why parents usually don’t allow their children to watch sensitive content such as horror and romance.
In conclusion, while there are some reasons to believe the amount of time children use to watch TV influences their behavior, my own view is that what they are devoting their time to, charges their behavior most.
