Some argue that what children watch on TV has impact on their behaviour, others believe that it is not about what they watch, it is about how much time they spend on it. This essay will explore both views before offering my perspective.
To begin with, children’s behaviour can be influenced by the content of the movie, films, and shows. Most children are keen on watching horror, action genres, which leads them to imitate their beloved protagonists. As a result, there is a great possibility of being changed the behaviour of youngsters. However, if they use TV wisely and in an appropriate way, like watching TV shows or films that are based on giving charities, donations to the people who come from poverty-stricken families, and assisting others who are in need with the tasks, problems, their actions will change for the better. On top of that, most of them may set an example of their friends by showing their exemplary behaviours.
In contrast, the amount of time they allocate on watching TV whether good things or bad has significantly negative impact on their behaviour, which can significantly deteriorate their behaviour. For instance, a large number of students, pupils, and children waste much of their valuable time watching TV, videos, YouTube videos instead of focusing on their education and personal development, causing poor performance in schools, weakening memory, and low ability. For example, a recent study conducted by brain cognitive researcher Richard Harlman showed that watching TV overtime can pose serious issues among children related to their attention, which leads to laziness.
In conclusion, although there are little usefulness that watching TV can give, I believe that it does not matter what children watch or how much time they spend on TV, It not only has influence on their behaviour, but also has impact on their cognitive skills, performance, ability, and so on.
