Some people think art such sculpture and music cannot improve the quality of people’s lives so the government should not spend money on them, such thinking is not necessarily accurate. We have seen examples of monuments that has become identity of the cities those are in and they have created massive economic activity around it.
Let’s take the Eiffel Tower for example, it has become identity of Paris, every year it attracts millions of tourist from across the world who spend and contribute Billions of Euro in the economy of France and Paris in particular. Such economic activities allow governments to reinvest that money in to infrastructure, healthcare and education sector of the country, which result in to upliftment of people’s lives.
On the other hand music helps people to improve productivity, improve focus and relief from daily life stress. Music has also presented opportunity for indenpendent artists to create their own content and generate monitory benefits from it so that can live a dignified life.
While government should spend money on health and defense, spending reasonable portion of money on art such as sculpture and music also helps improve quality of people’s lives.
