Band 7+: Some people think governments should focus on reducing environmental pollution and housing problems to help people prevent illness and disease. To what extent do you agree or disagree.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In today’s era of technological advancement, the prevalence of illness and diseases is on the rise. Some individuals argue that the authorities should prioritize the efforts to reduce environmental pollution and tackle the housing problems in order to help people avoid falling ill. I strongly support this viewpoint, as elaborated in the subsequent paragraph.

Environmental pollution can lead to a significant enhancement in people’s living conditions and, providing fresh air, clean water, and uncontaminated food can boost individuals’ immune systems, thereby reducing the likelihood of illness and diseases. For instance, in Japan, the government has introduced a monthly cleaning day where cities are required to clean their homes and surrounding areas. This initiative promotes a healthy lifestyle and prevents the spread of sickness and infections.

Furthermore, by tackling housing issues such as ensuring regular inspection and eliminating hazardous waste such as bacteria and microorganisms, authorities can contribute to the prevention of illness and health problems. For example, a recent study conducted in the United States of America compared two households – one maintained clean and hygienic, while the other remained dirty and neglected. The family residing in the sterilized house showed a stronger immune system, thus being more quick to recover against sickness. On the other hand, the family living in the unclean house faced a higher risk of viruses. It is crucial for governments to intervene and prioritize the health and wellbeing of their citizens.

In conclusion, it is imperative for authorities to take proactive measures to improve the environment and address housing-related issues in order to prevent the onset of illnesses and diseases. By investing in these areas, governments can significantly contribute to the overall health and longevity of their population.
