In this day and age, place of residence has become a particularly salient aspect of one’s life. Subsequently, it has been widely argued that cities are better for children to grow up. Many people agree with the notion because it helps them familiarize themselves with the city life environment. However, others oppose the idea and state that the countryside is more beneficial due to the fact that it provides enough outdoor spaces for children to grow up and is less populated.
To begin with, it has been seen that many individuals, when they grow up, come to the city in search of a job. In other words, one can’t be oblivious to the fact that growing up in the metropolitan area shapes children’s minds getting used to the fast pace of living. It should also be emphasized that this will give them an edge in society, and they are less prone to get mental health issues during their adulthood. For instance, children who grew up in apartment residences are less likely to feel depressed in comparison to those who recently shifted into one. Personally, I think it is indubitable that living in city makes a child mentally strong and helps them perform well in the long term.
Other than this, the key point to note is that the countryside provides more outdoor activities for children to enjoy after and during school. To elaborate, there is no denying that rural areas are less populated as a result, providing a safer environment. It should be noted that rural areas usually consist of smaller populations, thus it created belongingness in the community. For example, it is easy to make friends in rural areas since most towns only have one school. Admittedly, it is evident that rural living is less competitive hence, makes the environment easier for children to grow up.
The obvious conclusion to be drawn is that many individuals think growing up in urban areas helps children to become competitive in society. At the same, others believe rural areas make a child confident and socially comfortable in building relationships in the long term. Considering both sides, it can be seen that the former perspective seems to be convincing. It is because it helps a child to become independent and familiarize them with the big city. Nevertheless, the world would indeed be a better place to live in if every person could get balanced exposure of both rural and urban areas.
