Recently, there has been an argument about whether people should have an international day when people stop using car in order to help reducing air pollution. In my view, I do believe that organise a free-cars day globally is one of many efficient method to improve the atmosphere issue.
On the one hand, it is understandable why people do not support the idea of a global day without cars for several reasons. The first reason is that improving air pollution is not only about removing daily vehicles from use, but also about changing the way public transport system works. People hold a belief that the poor public transport system impact on the choice of using private vehicles such as cars or motorcycles. For example, Vietnam is one of the countries with the highest usage of private motorcycles in the world. The reason is that motorcycles or scooters in Vietnam are more convenient and better than public transport, such as buses or the metro, which is currently under construction. Another reasons is that there are more cars using the alternative energy such as electricity. With the sharply rise of electricity vehicles, people think that this is not important for a free-cars day.
On the other hand, I still strongly believe that there are more reasons for having a free-cars day globally. Firstly, it may spreads the awareness of CO2 emissions in the community. Celebrating an international day without cars will be a good efficient method to raise the awareness of people, especially among young children about how dangerous air quality is today. Secondly, it helps hold a habit for less using fossil fuel vehicles, while a majority of people still stick with CO2 emissons vehicels these days. Thus, they will seek for other alternative energy source such as electric cars or electric scooter.
In conclusion, while there are a lot of people disargree with the idea of an international free-car days, I still believe that it is a good solution for air pollution issue todays, especially in term of rising people’s awareness. It is reccommended that the international free-cars day should be mandatory in countries that well-known as highest usages of fossil fuel private vehicles.
