When hosting a big international sports events, there are people who oppose to host such events due to the extravagance of money especially for buildings. Also, there are proponents who advocate hosting the international athletic events for promoting its nation to abroad.
The supporters of such global sports events says that there are many benefits gained from hosting them especially related to tourism industry, while acknowledging that financial buden can sometimes be harsh. The example of it is Japan, the host country of the 2021 olympics. Japan merely had 5 million foreign visitors in 2012, before the IOC vote to chose the place of the 2020 olympics. However, because of the effect of the olympics, Japan had experienced sharp increase of international visitors, which almost 5 times as high as the number in 2012. Such effect surely made profit for the tourism industry, and over 50 billion dollars of money from visitors from abroad stimulated Japanese economy.
In contrast, the opponents suggest that having global events is not worth it because of the financial burden that nation will have afterwards. For example, when the city of Beijing held a winter olympics in 2022, the government of Beijing and the prominent corporations in china corporated to build luxurious sports facilities to host the olympics. It seemed to work out while olympics was on the game, however, due to the low demand for such winter sports in Beijing, the places has nolonger been used since olympics closed. Now, the facilities are completely useless and wasteful of money which only costs to be maintained.
Considering these two opoinions, I believe that accepting international sports games does not benefit to the people over the country because of the financial inability to compensate the fees keeping the facilities. Also, there are some another aspects. Currently, fear of terrorism in such games are widely spreading across the nations. For instance, flance is hireing 10,000 new policemen using its limited budged to keep france peace under the time of olympics, which terrorist are seeking an opportunity to disrupt the event. For these reasons, I mostly agree that such sports games should not be hosted.
