The last few decades have witnessed a remarkable change in city transportation due to the increasing popularity of private vehicles and individuals’ hectic lifestyles. It is believed by a certain group of people that motor vehicles are the best mode of city transportation, while others disagree with this point of view and are convinced that pollution-free bicycles are better. I firmly agree with the latter notion.
To commence with, proponents of cars as the best way to commute in city argue that cars are more faster than any other vehicles on roads, and they offer a huge amount of comfort for their passengers, regardless of the weather conditions throughout the year. Nowadays, every city person always has a lack of time due to their busy schedules, and they often manage their time by travelling in motor vehicles. For instance, in a densly populated city like Delhi in India, citizens often find themselves using private vehicles when they are travelling from one corner to another in city; therefore, cars are considered as the best option for city travelling by some people. However, motor vehicles always emite a huge amount of carbon into the air.
On the other hand, people who favour bicycles as the better alternative of cars argue that it is eco-friendly and affordable for everyone. In other words, bicycles not only can offer a pollution-free environment, but they are also available in affordable prices in markets, which is beneficial in reducing carbon footprint spreading by humans. To epitomize, a developed country like China, well-known worldwide for its pollution-free city atmosphare, provides plenty of free bicycles for regular use all across the country, demonstrating the effectiveness of bicycles over cars in controlling city pollution.
In conclusion, although cars are more comfortable and faster for city travelling, I believe that bicycles have more to offer to different class of people, including zero emissions and easy affordability.
