It is believed that discipline is the best method for educating chidren to become a good citizens. From my perspective, I firmly agree that discipline is the most effective approach to teach young people become a good person. Besides, I offer one main recommendation to attain this goal.
To begin with, discipline helps children become more responsible, because it encourages young people to take responsibility for their actions which could lead to negative consequences; therefore, they can avoid make a mistake again. To be specific, many school in Singapore punish students with cleaning all the schoolyard since they throw away litter inappropriately in the school. This punishment allows them to be aware of their bad behaviour and it also makes them more obedient to follow the school’s regualtions.
By contrast to discipline, another valuable way to teach teenagers could be rewarding them with gifts when they obey the law in their country. This method motivates children to abide by rules more as it holds a lot of appeal for young people. For example, in kindergarten, teachers often give toys to children who not violate the regualtions of school ; therefore, it would be a foundation for children to create good habits.
On the other hand, one might object here that discipline is not suitable to teach teenagers, because it is strict. However, they should bear in mind that if there is not discipline which acts as a deterrence to other people, they will still repeat the wrong. For instance, a lot of children who do harm to other people without being punished. As a result, they take it for granted and continue their harmful behaviour. Hence, I maintain that discipline is the necessary way to teach children.
To sum up, I strongly believe that discipline is the best way to educate good citizens because of improving responsibility. Furthermore, this essay recommend another effective method is rewarding children with gifts.
