People believe that government should raise the value of petrol for vehicles to fix environmental problems. In my opinion, it is the one of the best solutions to protect the environment from destruction. In addition to this, there are various other ways to deal with environmental problems.
Firstly, such an idea assumes that the number of cars will be decreased and people will use public transportation more. Although this means the government will need to increase the public transportation numbers and improve the quality of journeys on them. Secondly, from the point of freight services, large quantities of goods would transport by rail. Both the first and second solutions would minimize vehicle emissions and reduce greenhouse effect in the atmosphere, thereby having a positive impact on the planet.
In addition to these, there are other measures which would be more effective in the long term. For example, the introduction of free bus and train passes, so more people will use public transportation. People would not have to constantly use their own cars or carbs to get to their appointed place. Also one of the effective ways to solve the air pollution problem is to introduce a congestion fees. As the result of this the number of cars would be decreased, thereby it would reduce the emission of gases from them and help in the fight against global warming.
In conclusion, raising fuel prices might be a useful stopgap measure, but in the longer term other ways to help the environment would be more effective.
