The question of whether government investment in city infrastructure upgrades is crucial remains a topic of ongoing debate, eliciting divergent opinions. While some people argue that government bodies should invest in enhancing the speed and efficiency of public transportation, others contend that there are more pressing priorities that require government attention. Although allocating funds to public transit by the government can undoubtedly be effective, I personally believe that prioritizing financial investment in other areas plays a more significant role in building a long-term sustainable society, addressing not only educational but also healthcare problems.
Supporters of public transportation are of the opinion that allocating government funds to public transports like buses and train is main priority for society and improve to their speed. Investing money on them can be sensible in some ways to eliminate traffic congestion which is facing in the majority urban areas around the word. In other words, by enhancing the quality of the city’s infrastructure system, the government can deal with problems related to public vehicles and also offer versatility and convenience the citizens of country. Put simply, if the departments of transportation boost road quality standards and regulations, people have more opportunities for attending their workplaces and educational institutions without traffic jams. In contrast, when they face delays, it is nothing but physiological stress and mental health problems. From this perspective, some argue that, addressing traffic problems not only improves mobility but also enables individuals to maintain their mental and physical wellbeing, contributing to overall physical health.
Albeit potential benefits of allocating government funds to public transit, I align with critics of this approach, advocating that other clear steps must also be taken to enhance the standards of living in society. First and foremost, one of those vital realms is nothing but healthcare and education. To be specific, those fields play a huge role in building strong society, hence, the government needs to improve them. This is significant because, there is a strong linkage between local hospitals, universities, and the next generation. This means that the government should never overlook the fact that today’s children will be tomorrow’s leaders. Unless they are educated adequately, the whole society may suffer from poverty. Take the period of the Soviet Union as a prime example, where the level of poverty was high. In essence, optimal education and medical services demand excessive investment while distributing money.
To conclude, while the improvement of public transportation may be advantageous in certain aspects, I believe that overlooking other areas apart from public transport, such as healthcare and education can have the potential to building long-term society.
