Number of individuals believe that governments have to subsidy in sports amenities for high level athletes, while others assume that money should be spend on sports equipment for everyone. From my perspective, support from authorities should be not only for top sportsmans, but also for people, who just started exercising.
From one hand, spending money on athletes expected to illustrate higher performance on World Championships. By purchasing innovative equipment and consultations with qualified doctors, professional athletes will be more prepared and more confident about their skills for upcoming tournaments. For instance, Franc e, which bought treadmill with VR that imitates how you ski, won 27 percent more silver medals in The Olympic Games of 2024 compared to previous in 2020.
From other hand, spending on sport facilities for ordinary people promotes public health. Free access to sports grounds provides opportunity to train and motivates people, considering that usually general public cannot afford to go to the gym or sports clubs. Therefore, if public stat to exercise regularly, they will reduce the risk of chronic diseases. Moreover, engaging young people in sports helps instill discipline, teamwork, and keeps them away from harmful activities, contributing to a healthier and more productive society. For example, government program “DaraBala” in Kazakhstan, which provides to do any sports for free, showed that children who plays sports increased by 39 percent in one year
In conclusion, while spending money on professionals provides numerous benefits and can increase performance on championships, I do not agree that it should be completely supported by government, because of advantages that usual people bring by training.
