While some would argue that people turn out to be more dependent on others because of the ongoing trend on traditional type of relationship and a few benefits, I believe that most of the people in the 21st century are willing to be independent from their partner and colleagues because nothing guarantees a great life with a person next to you.
On the one hand, people have been dependent on their loved ones and colleagues with bosses for a long time. Moreover, there has been an ongoing trend to promote traditional relationships not only between couples but also in the working environment. When you rely on someone, a few benefits appear in your life, including financial and social benefits. Those advantages can be seen in the example of an unemployed wife counting on her husband, therefore, he provides financial support and she, enjoying her “days off”, makes their home atmosphere cozy and spends her free time as she wants, spending his money and making new friends. However, I believe that independency is appearing to be more common these days because the teenagers start to understand that they are “not living” when they are under someone.
On the other hand, it is thought that more citizens become independent because they don’t agree to rely on someone and be under them. Being independent allows not only to score a better future but also to secure ones personal life after being left. The feminist move has become a start point when women decided to move on from the traditional way of living, parents began to teach their daughters to work on their personal and proffesional lives as love will come by itself; moreover, it sets high standarts in romantic and career relationships because of the ability to bring more “to the table”. That is why new generations appear to be more independent, hustling from a very young age to create a peaceful future without a need to ask permission or money from others. I believe that this way is becoming more popular as children grow and realise this one problem of other generations.
In conclusion, although the trend on traditional way of living is being romanticised and one might get a few advantages from being dependent on someone, the ability to live ones life the way he wants it to be and secure the future – makes young people believe that independency is the key and, therefore, it becomes the most common trend in modern society.
