From ancient times to the present, society has always been composed of groups of individuals. People deal with each other daily, whether socializing or in the workplace. Some people believe that individuals are becoming more dependent on each other in modern society. However, others think that they are becoming more independent. From my perspective, individuals are more dependent today.
People are more closely connected nowadays, as the rise of networks has improved significantly. Simply put, online chat promotes convenient communication, increasing dependency among individuals. The most obvious example is that many surveys have confirmed that a group of people, especially young, are spending most of their time chatting with their friends and socializing online. In addition, the social norms, and ways of interaction in our current society has led to dependency among individuals. Depending on each other became an essential in many lives’ scenario, such as in work or study. To be specific, individuals are always considered as a group in places like schools and companies where people perceive social interaction and communication. In modern work environments, to be able to succeed in a project, interactions and dependency among peers is always considered the way to go.
Meanwhile, some agree that individuals are more independent as technology has grown. People can live alone and accomplish things independently compared to people from ancient times. However, even so, we are not separated from this society. Dependence still exists due to emotional connection.
To sum up, dependence is an indispensable part of this society. People depend on each other because social networks have connected people to each other. Also, individuals rely on each other in work and study. Therefore, in modern society, individuals are actually becoming more dependent on each other.
