The phenomenon of socialization holds a special place in an employee’s life. There exists two different school of thoughts about its extent and influence on worker’s routine. One group advocates hang outs with colleagues during duty-off time, while other maintains complete diversion from the idea of inter-mingling after job hours. This piece of writing would shed light on both views and in the end an independent opinion will be shared.
The ability to socialize is a mark of an intelligence and it can bring a lot of benefits. First and foremost, meeting colleagues, after the work, would create a strong bonding leading to friendships. Second, due to such bonding a culture of mutual help would develop at job place which will lessen work-related anxiety. Third, owing to regular meet ups worker will show empathy towards a worker in trouble. Thus, by the virtue of the socialization during duty-off times, employee would be in a win-win situation.
However, there are certain counter-arguments that seek to establish complete separation of work and private life. First, working during major part of the day drains energy. Further engagement would result in health-related ailments. Secondly, family would suffer as they are often waiting impatiently for an evening to come because they are expecting family gathering. Third, partying with colleagues would also put a strain on purse, and sometimes make it difficult for a worker to meet both ends.
In the end, I want to appreciate the arguments of both of the groups. I believe that a balance should be drawn. It would be foolish to completely isolate oneself and look like an alien at workplace, while it is even detrimental to keep on interacting at the expense of one’s health and financial resources. Therefore, it depends on an employee that how well he balance his routines.
