It is disputed whethermath or other subjects more important. In my opinion, I believe math and other subjects are all of significance, since they shoulder different function in shaping fully developed students.
Math is considered important is attributed to its function in fostering students’ comprehension of abstract concepts and honing analytical thinking abilities.Due to the abstract nature, many students find the underlying principles of math are hard to understand.It is why many students struggle with it and perform badly in it.However, during the process of learning and conquering math, the abilities to comprehend, for example, the law of geometry and calculus, are developed for individuals. This is important for developing abstract concepts understanding. Besides, mathematics involve the gathering and analyzing of a huge amount of statistics; as a result, students’ analytical ability is also cultivated.
By contrast, other subjects, like literature and history, also play a pivotal role in cultivating well-rounded and informed citizens. These subjects mainly concern about concrete facts and stories, closely related to our life experiences.Due to this nature, such subjects require students to analyze the events and characters, draw lessons from them and avoid mistakes in life. For example, people who are taught by these subjects are more likely to deal with stress and anxiety from life and work.Consequently, arts subjects tend to equip people with knowledge in handling mentally difficult situations.
In conclusion, math and other subjects are all significant for students to learn. While math fosters individuals understanding of abstract things and analytical thinking abilities, subjects like arts also command undeniable role in transforming students into informed citizens.
