Some individual are of the opinion that acquiring more knowledge by learning a wide range of subjects should be focused on older students. Others believe that it is more beneficial for them to learn only a small number of subjects in detail. While both schools of thought hold merit, I’m certainly inclined toward the former.
To begin with, there are several reasons why older students should learn subjects in small number but with more detail. First of all, they can acquire significant knowledge from particular areas by learning and receiving these knowledge in a long period of time. For example, students who are only taught maths by their teachers throughout the semester can at least understand and have a strong foundation of Maths, not to mention some students can expertise in Mathematics field. Moreover, teaching in a small number of subjects, governments don’t have to allocate money for training teachers with other fields. The quality of teachers, therefore, in these particular fields, can get higher and higher.
On the other hand, it is a more persuasive argument that students should learn a various subjects to get more knowledge. The prime reason for that is the more knowledge they know from schools, the more success they may have. Having opportunities to learn a wide range of subjects, students can have multi-demensional thinking which is important to not only at school but also their career’s growth. For instance, between two dominations applying for one jobs, one who have knowledge in variety fields such as English, Economic or Geography can be priotized to get the job.
To sum up, while learning little subjects is beneficial for some reasons, students who learn the plenty of subjects at school can achieve a significant amount of useful knowledge.
