Most people believe that due to the increasing trend of e-book use, paper-based books are going to disappear. While it is indeed true that e-books are being promoted and easily accessible as opposed to paper-based books. I do not agree that they are going to fully disappear.
To begin with, while the e-books have tremendous benefits such as being easily accessible, available online and offline, at times in affordable prices or for free in certain websites it also has it’s own drawbacks. Firstly, due to the rising trend in e books , there is more technology use. While it may not be directly affecting our eye sight , it can play a huge role as people may use e books but also while instead of taking breaks they may switch to social media platforms during their free time. So , our eyes are not properly rested.
Secondly due to technological developments, most of the homeworks, and research work in academics have shifted online. Posting, submitting assignments online as a pdf is not uncommon and may even be conventional as a storage source. However, studying e books for longer time coupled with other sorts of online work can be mentally straining. Furthermore, it could be boiled down to personal preference as many may find it to be uncomfortable using e – books with with limited annotation use and may prefer to jot it down in the paper-based books.
To conclude , while e books are undeniably useful it has it’s own drawbacks. Using paper based books in the future may not be widespread as it used to be in the past but to claim that it would completely disappear is unlikley to occur as it has it’s own advantages.
