In the contemporary era, opinions are divided on whether having one job for a long period of time or trying different jobs brings more career satisfaction. Although it is clear that working at a company for years has numerous advantages, I personally argue that those who frequently change their career tend to have more benefits compared to others.
On one hand, I believe the main reason why people say that being stable at one job for a long period of time has more benefits is due to the fact that they are able to develop deeper relationships with colleagues and customers. To elucidate, they have more opportunities to have promotion prospects within the company. Moreover, they can easily avoid workplace conflicts, which happen to every employee, especially interns. From the customers’ perspective, people who work long-term are considered to be the key factor in the company’s sales due to their solid relationship with consumers.
On the other hand, it is undeniable that trying different occupations is essential for employees. The first significant merit can be attributed to the fact that workers can experience new challenges from which they can gain the necessary skills for their careers. In contrast, people who work for one company often lack life skills compared to those who work for several jobs. Another considerable benefit is that experiencing different jobs can help young people know exactly what they are passionate about so that they can have direction for their future lives. For example, many youngsters let their parents choose their career, which usually makes it hard for them to pursue the career path that they are interested in.
