It is saddening to say that today’s generation don’t give importance to libraries. Some individuals advocate that there is no need of public libraries, as every piece of information is available online; others argue that libraries are better source for consuming knowledge. This essay intends to analyse both the perspectives and ultimately give my own judgement on this phenomenon.
Commenting upon the former view, the most anticipated is that every bit of news or knowledge is rapidly available on websites. As of now, everyone has their own smartphone or computer, which can easily supply replete information. On top of that, the details broadcasted on web pages are in more accurate as they are getting updated day by day. What is more, one can save time rather than walking to a library. Not only time but also the cost of transportation and entry fees of library can be saved. For instance, a person can easily find any answer to any particular question by just swiping his fingers.
Analysing the latter view, many people claim that libraries are a better way of getting knowledge, as one can easily understand the concepts rather than being distracted on internet by various adverts as well as notifications. In addition, there is a serene surrounding in the library. To be more precise, because of no noise pollution, a deep concentration can be achieved inside a library. Another factor worth considering is that youngsters are distracted by mobile phones and desktops, causing in the diminishing of attention span. By reading the hardcopies, many concerns regarding their grades can be resolved.
To culminate, I would like to say that because of the negative aspects of the internet, libraries are must; however, it will depend upon the mindsets of the people that which view they are in favour of.
