Whether or not teaching STEM subjects is a matter of debate. In my opinion, I believe that acquiring money management and cooking skills plays a bigger role in future survivals.
One might argue that teaching math and science is more important than anything else. This is because these subjects are essential for further education and many careers. Strong foundation in technology and innovation are more often asked by many countries in advance. Therefore, learning traditional subjects could develop critical thinking. Engineering, IT and medicine rely on strong backgrounds.
Despite being these arguments, I believe that incorporating life skills provide opportunities as well as. On top of that, not all students pursue higher education, so practical skills are crucial for survival. Teaching money management can reduce future debt and promote smart spending which is useful for every day life. A student who understands budgeting is less likely to fall into financial trouble. Thus, awareness of cooking can lead to healthier eating habits that pretend issues related to well-being.
