In contemporary society, financial literacy is one of the most vital skills. It is often argued whether teaching financial literacy is school’s or parents’ responsibility. Although teaching financial literacy might be easier with guardians, I believe that this is better to be taught at school as they can choose the most effective method to do this.
On the one hand, helping to learn a new skill would be much easier if it is done with the help of parents because they are able to find the best approach to their child. To elaborate, they know their children better; therefore, learning financial literacy will not be stressful. This is mainly because lessons will be carried in a calm and comfortable approach. A pertinent example can be drawn from children’s behaviour at hospitals as they more rely on their parents than on doctors when performing medical operations. This happens because guardians know their children from their birth. Exactly the same situation occurs in terms of learning something. Thus, learning a skill is easier with parents.
Conversely, it is more preferable to provide this duty on adepts, namely on teachers since they are awared of effective ways to teach financial literacy. They know how to treat pupils, resulting in better performances regarding finances and financial independence. To illustrate, “talking” lessons are often held in some schools in Kazakhstan. They are targeted to discuss crucial topics which also include financial literacy. As a result, most kazakh people are financially independent. Therefore, carrying lessons regarding financial literacy is crucial to build economically strong society.
In conclusion, to be financially independent is a valuable thing in these days. Despite the fact that learning financial literacy can be easier with guardians as they know their children well, holding this lesson with teachers is more efficient not only because they are adept, but also because they know the right way to teach this.
